Hire of Barton Green Theatre
Sorry no one got back to you, unfortunately our theatre is not for hire as a committee member must be present when anyone is in the building. We also build sets very early on into the rehearsal period, so the space is quite often taken up with set pieces. It might be worth trying the CornerHouse in Tolworth. They can hire their building out. Milo |

Hire of the Green Theatre
Hi all, I was wondering if there is anyone I could speak to about possibly hiring the Green Theatre for a workshop? I run a small theatre group for children (5 to 16) and we put on "musical in a week" workshops twice a year in the Easter and Summer Holidays. I am currently looking for a venue for our Easter Workshop, and wondered whether the Green Theatre might be a possibility? We are a very well behaved group with a high ratio of staff to children, and we have our own sound and lighting technician (although lighting help is always appreciated if there are interested parties!). Can you point me in the direction of the appropriate people to ask? Thanks Iain Cowden |

The formatting seems to be a bit weird..words are getting cut off in posts on the forums, rather than just moving down a line after a word finishes it seems to be cutting them off in the middle. Not a huge worry but any idea how to fix it, Rick? |

Committee Year
As the new Chairperson of the Green I thought I'd take a minute to outline the agenda for the coming year. At present, the committee has two major tasks - fundraising and the recruitment of new members. We will be looking extensively at various charity and neighborhood grants in order to carry out some much needed work to the theatre building and to update some of our equipment, such as lights, sound mixing board, scenery. We hope that this will enhance the Green experience for current members and make us more attractive to potential new members and our community audience as a whole. In addition to this we are always on the lookout for new members. If you fancy acting, directing, stage managing, sound and light operation or even set design and construction you will have the opportunity to carry out all of these activities a the Green Theatre. We pride ourselves on the variety of plays we perform and we always have a good time working on every show. If anyone has any interest in being an acting member of the theatre please feel free to contact us at bartongreentheatre@hotmail.com. On a final note, I would like to thank my current committee for giving up their free time to assist me in the coming year! |

We went to see this play last night. We thoroughly enjoyed it as we do all your productions. Well acted and exceedingly funny. Keep up the good work. Pat & David |

Hi Brittany Yes it was me. I have been trying to add more showes. You only had shows from 2006 I think.Whereas I have added shows from the beginning which was 1986. You will notice at the bottom of the page that I have started formatting it and as you said it takes some time. I am hoping to complete it today. I was trying to be helpful. Sorry! Rick |

The page has been messed up... It took me a long time to make it look nice and orderly. I think someone went back in and added info- Rick did you? It's not a huge deal but I think I can make it look nice again when I have more time. Also I think adding the dates makes it look a bit cluttered and hard to read... |

Hi I have just realised that I am soon to be getting close to my sixth year as a member of the Green Theatre Company. Thats incredible. I hadent even realised it was getting close to five years! I started my tenure as an actor at the Green as everyone should. I was Merriman the Butler in "The Importance of Being Earnest". That was a terrific production and one i remember incredibly fondly. Many of the cast of that show had been long standing members and it was nice to see them with some of the stalwarts that now inhabit the Green. There was some incredible acting and the Direction and Set were ground breaking for me and for the next two years such innovation was expected. After a brief hiatus I was once again blessed with a role in “A Christmas Carol” which was a big Christmas show with an excellent director and cast. I remember that show well as I was pleased with a better role and I enjoyed getting to know a much larger group of people. In the new year the Dime Bar gang was formed and a really love show performed. “The Accidental Death of an Anarchist” introduced me to a very unique director who got the best out of us. I met for the first time the very charismatic Tara and experienced her best performance ever especially as it was her first! This was followed by one of my personal best performances and a play I really enjoyed doing with a Director who always excels, “The Sea”. I have since seen it twice and I still think we did it better! A brief spell at directing in the Sins gave much needed experience to the Directors of Tomorrow. Madeleine Mason, John Mole, Seth Cheek, Tara Chasteau and myself who have directed 8 of the last shows in the last three years. 2005 ended with a great “Spectacle” and I truly hope we will see something of this quality at the Green sometime soon. It was this year that I joined the committee and took over from Colin Goodger as Publicity Officer. 2006 saw me in two plays from our chairperson and one directed by me. I enjoyed the learning curve of directing and felt that it was a good grounding for Little Women two years later. It was a relatively quiet year but incredibly good fun. 2007 was a brand new committee and brand new set of directors. John Mole and Maddie Mason directed two incredible shows that I thoroughly enjoyed being a part of. I still get reminded of the silly dance in Abigail’s Party even today. Since then I have the pleasure of directing “my” Little Women which has been I belive my most enjoyable and satisfying part of being involved at the Green. All of them were a delight to direct. Since then I have been involved in two fantastic Christmas shows that I know the audience loved. In that time I have had a tremendous time directing, acting and being on the committee. I have lost count of the number of plays I have performed in but I know that currently I have acted in 2 2/7 plays.I have learnt how to help with the set, contruct a lighting rig and manage the soundboards. I think its been a great way to spend my spare time and the time in the pub after each rehearsal has also been great. I cannot recommend a more enjoyable past time and I love all the friends I have made as a result. I hope to continue directing, acting and maybe even join the committee again at some time. Thank you for letting me a bit self indulgent but I just felt like summarising my time at the Green so far for any potential new members! |
